Neca Falk

Marjeta Neca Falk started her singing career at the start of the ’70s with the “Boemi/Bohemians” and “Rdeci decki/Red boys.” She also performed solo at festivals. On her solo albums she was in the mainstream of the genre with members of Atomsko skloniste (Atomic shelter) working with her to compose the music. From the mid-80s she recorded a number of children’s music albums. Later on in her career she started playing acoustic music. In addition to music, she is also an avid photographer, as well as a participant in theatrical productions (as both a singer and actress).

 

Slađana Milošević

She started her career in 1977 as a “sex symbol”, with a provocative image for which she has been remembered. She was able to solidify and define her style with a number of albums in the 80’s (“Gorim od zelje da ubijem noc”/”Burning from the ground to kill the night” and “Neutral Design”). However her most brilliant work was in 1988 with the album “Sladjana and Darko”. In 1984 she recorded the hit song “Princeza” (“Princess”) with Dado Topić. She spent the first half of the ’90s in America, and then returned to Belgrade where she continued with her music career.

Zdenka Kovačiček

She started her career in 1957 in a duet with Hani. From that start, she began building her career at music festivals. At the start of the ’70s, she started performing with a progressive rock band from Croatia called “Nirvana” (band from Croatia) as well as other Yugoslavian jazz and rock bands. Throughout the years she devoted herself to jazz, rock, rhythm and blues. She also performed in a number of plays and musicals.

Sanjalice

One of the first all female bands in Yugoslavia, Sanjalice was established in 1965. During their career they performed at over a thousand concerts and fashion shows. After releasing three singles, they stopped performing and devoted themselves to their university studies.

Denis & Denis

Formed in 1982, they were an elektro pop duet with two members (Marina Perazić and Davor Tolja). With their first two hit songs (“Program tvog kompjutera”/“Your computer program,” and “Ja sam lažljiva”/“I can be deceitful”) they gained instant recognition. In 1986, Marina Perazić left the duo and started her solo career. Davor Tolja and Edi Kraljić continued the duo and recorded an album “Budi tu” (“Be there”) in 1988. However, shortly after that they stopped performing.

Josipa Lisac

After working with the band O’Hare and zlatni akordi (O’Hare and the Golden Chords), Josipa started her solo career in 1968. Her album “Dnevnik jedne ljubavi” (“A diary of a love”) (1973) is seen as one of the best debut albums. The music was composed by her husband Karlo Metikos and Ivica Krajac. At the end of the 70s she moved to America. She returned to music with more of a mainstream and light jazz feel. She was often a guest singer on albums with other bands. She also performed in a number of musicals.

Viktorija

Snežana Mišković started her career at the end of the 70s with the group “Pop polifonija” and in 1981 established her own all women’s pop group “Aske”. The band represented Yugoslavia at the 1982 Eurovision song contest with the song “Halo halo” (“Hello Hello”). They stopped performing in 1986. Snežana started her own group “Viktorija” and was voted the best rock singer on a number of occasions. She recorded four albums. She worked with a number of famous musicians, including Bora Đorđević, Gibonni, Rambo Amadeus and Kiki Lesendrić.

Bebi Dol

Dragana Šarić (aka Bebi Dol/Baby Doll), got her start with her song “Mustafa” in 1981. During her career she worked with a number of musicians and performed at a number of festivals. She released 4 albums. She represented Yugoslavia at the 1991 Eurovision song contest with the song “Brazil”.

Cacadou look

This band started in 1983, in Opatija in Croatia. Their first album in 1987 (“Tko mari za cari”/ “Who cares about emperors”) was the first all-female band album in Yugoslavia. In 1991 they stopped performing.

Boye

Boye started in 1991. The group had a lot of members who came in and out. However Biljana Babić (drummer) and Ilija Vlaisavljević Bebec (bass) made up the backbone of the group. The band had four albums and at the end of the 90s concluded their work.
