ABOUT
THE
INITIATIVE

The Ex-Yu Rock Society (EYRS) was formally established as a BiH civil society organization in February 2021, with the goal of promoting and preserving Ex-Yu Rock and the music culture that surrounds it.  The Society is committed to respect for music, culture,  and the diverse voices, minds, and hands that make it possible. The EYRS envisions the Ex-Yu Rock Centar as an inclusive and open space where rock lovers can congregate, communicate, collaborate, and celebrate timeless evergreen music and make new sounds for today.

The EYRS Board will work with a Creative Advisory team to ensure quality and a forward-looking perspective. The team is committed to working with artists and music lovers in Sarajevo, the region and around the world to create a global community of music lovers. As a non-profit, non-commercial enterprise, the Society will encourage a spirit of both volunteerism and professionalism, and invest its resources into the Ex-Yu Rock Centar to ensure an engaging and sustainable cultural site that will enrich Sarajevo and the regional cultural scene for years to come.

Why I’m excited about this project: I’ve seen how the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland has transformed that city’s cultural, recreational and tourism potential, and love the feeling of being blown away by the music and spectacle when you walk through those doors. We have the chance to do that in Sarajevo, and to promote music, creativity, and culture.
