Tomaž Pengov, Buldožer, Begnagrad, Pankrti, Pomaranča, Lačni Franz, Laibach, Borghesia, Videosex, Avtomobili, Gastrbajtrs / Demolition Group… are (just) some of the names from the peak of Slovenian rock artists in the seventies and eighties whose reach crossed the borders of Slovenia and who each played an important role in their own way and occupied a significant place on the Yugoslav rock scene at the time. Located at the crossroads of east and west Europe, Slovenia was an integral part of the SFRY and its market, an important starting point and training ground for numerous Yugoslav performers, and throughout the eighties, Ljubljana became an epicenter for concerts, where people from all over Yugoslavia came to see foreign alternative rock bands play. It was precisely because of the increasingly strong and diverse alter-scene that acted within its avant-garde and alternative approaches that the Ljubljana and Slovenian scene in general resonated throughout Yugoslavia.
The development of the exhibition “Totalna revolucija” was done through the “Rock for Unity” project, done in partnership between the Ex-Yu Rock Society, Alicorn, Eurothink, and co-financed by the European Union through the Creative Europe programme. The exhibition was further supported by the Embassy of the Republic of Slovenia in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
